The American Express Corporate Sustainability (CS) team sits within Corporate Affairs & Communications and is responsible for driving enterprise-wide sustainability strategy and performance, including overseeing American Express’ progress toward its net-zero emissions target.
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Analyst – Net-Zero Program, Enterprise Decarbonization to support the implementation of American Express’ net-zero strategy and help accelerate emissions reduction across Scope 1, 2, and 3 categories. The Analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with key global business units and stakeholders.

How will you make an impact in this role?
Program Management & Governance Support
Support day-to-day execution of the enterprise Net-Zero Program including maintaining program dashboards and monitoring key performance indicators.
Assist in preparing materials for executive-level audiences, including the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Net-Zero Working Group.
Coordinate cross-functional meetings, document outcomes and action items, and ensure timely follow-up with key stakeholders.
Help maintain Net-Zero governance and program management documentation including roles, responsibilities, internal policies, and procedures.
Operational Decarbonization Support
Assist in researching, analyzing, and benchmarking decarbonization best practices across relevant operational areas such as real estate, data centers, fleet, aviation, renewable energy and supply chain.
Support collaboration with enterprise functions (e.g., Real Estate, Technology, Procurement, Finance) to advance implementation of emissions reduction initiatives.
Help manage tools and data systems (Watershed, etc.) used to measure, monitor, and forecast carbon performance at the project and portfolio level.
Work with the Climate Data and Reporting team to track and report progress against intermediate milestones for achieving 2033 and 2050 emissions reduction targets.
Climate Data, Tools & Reporting
Assist in compiling data for internal progress tracking and external reporting including performance dashboards, voluntary disclosures (e.g., CDP, SBTi), and regulatory reporting needs.
Conduct basic climate-related quantitative analysis and visualizations using Excel or other tools to support strategy development and reporting.
Strategic Research & Benchmarking
Monitor evolving climate policy, relevant sustainability guidance and frameworks (e.g. GHG Protocol, SBTi guidance) and peer practices relevant to net-zero and corporate decarbonization strategies.
Support development of briefings and research memos to inform net-zero strategy implementation, risk identification, and stakeholder engagement planning.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years’ experience in corporate sustainability, climate strategy, environmental consulting, or a related field.
Knowledge of sustainability principles and climate-related frameworks (e.g., Net-Zero, GHG Protocol, SBTi).
Strong organizational, coordination, and project management skills.
Experience creating PowerPoint presentations for internal or external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, including experience with Excel or data analysis tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to distill complex topics into clear, concise insights.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Policy, Business, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting or tracking enterprise climate or decarbonization programs.
Exposure to real estate sustainability, renewable energy, supply chain, or low-carbon technologies.
Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards (e.g., CDP, TCFD, CSRD, SBTi) or climate regulations.
Exposure to sustainability data platforms such as Watershed, Workiva, etc.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
