Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Responsible for mechanical parts that make up the Apple Watch Bands and accessories in all sizes and materials. Design and document piece part specifications for die-cut, stamped and insert molded parts. Perform detailed failure analysis to understand failure mechanism and define root cause. Oversee prototype builds to test and validate Apple’s parts and systems design meet the required criteria. Create clear documentation, testing, data driven down selection, and validation of mechanical designs. Travel to vendor sites to review designs, perform FA, and support process bring-up for new Apple Watch Bands and accessories. Develop cosmetic standards to ensure product quality consistency. Research novel technologies to implement into new products. Work with cross functional teams to coordinate component interactions. 15% International and Domestic Travel Required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 - $220,900/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and/or education must include:
Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop drawings and design data.
Applying tolerance analysis with GD&T, Six Sigma, and CPK for designing mass production parts and assemblies.
Molding design using mold flow, DFM, injection molding, and die-casting.
Designing for machining, stamping, die casting, and forging processes to enable scalable metal part production.
Performing detailed static analysis to inform robust mechanical designs.
Interpreting failure analysis results including FTIR, SEM, sectioning, fracture analysis, and DOEs to improve and optimize designs.
Applying electrical design principles for sensor integration.
Designing and integrating mechanisms to enable novel and reliable product experiences.
