How will you make an impact in this role?
Growing consumer lending is a top priority for American Express, especially as the company mobilizes to capitalize on key growth opportunities. As a result, the Product Management and Lending (PML) organization has been created to evolve our portfolio and transform the way we meet customers’ borrowing needs in an evolving landscape.
Within PML, the U.S. Insurance Team owns a portfolio of No Additional Charge (NAC) and fee-based insurance products and services for customers across the Consumer, Small Business and Corporate portfolios, totaling $170M in Revenue. The team has an ambitious growth plan to double revenue in three years.
The Senior Manager, Insurance Product Strategy supports this objective by ensuring the ongoing health of the portfolio and innovating new strategies for Premium Car Rental Protection and/or Trip Cancel Guard Products. This includes core aspects of portfolio management (e.g., P&L management, engagement strategies, NPS and complaint tracking), product strategy (e.g., value proposition definition, product refresh), and external partnership management.
This is a great opportunity to not only get hands-on experience maintaining innovative products, but also to hone knowledge and expertise in managing products and strategic partner relationships. This position includes leadership of 1 Direct Report.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver product strategy and optimize performance by understanding key P&L drivers (i.e.; customer research, usability studies, market analysis)
Understand and own the Premium Car Rental Protection P&L and revenue growth targets
Drive vision and development of products, features, and capabilities based on an intimate knowledge of the customer mindset
Collaborate with internal and external partners to improve customer experience, deliver on business goals and enhance claims and servicing
For external partners, responsible for ensuring all strategic and operational deliverables are met
Project management of all critical workstreams to drive project plans forward toward targeted timeframes by ensuring oversight of critical timelines & progress of all activities
Lead identification of operational issues and end to end remediation by developing and maintaining external listening posts to ensure voice of the customer and competitor
Lead, coach and develop an Analyst
Minimum Qualifications
5 years productmanagement experience, preferably in the Insurance industry
Proven track record of using data and analytics to identify performance trends, assess risks/opportunities, and drive informed business decisions that improve top-line growth and bottom-line results
Understand the workflow and terminology of insurance or similar products and processes and their impact on profit and loss.
Proficiency in understanding portfolio P&L
Deeply inquisitive, enjoys creative problem solving, white-spacethinking, and using data to tell a story
Proven ability to translate customer insights into clear product requirements and strategic roadmap priorities
Superior stakeholder management and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence
Solutions-oriented mindset and critical thinker with strong attention to detail and a can-do attitude
Leader who has a passion to develop colleagues on their team
Bachelor’s degree

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
