DESCRIPTION

Develop, manage, and improve electronics controls applications using system development processes and tools. Utilize tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK to develop control system models. Oversee system specification, calibration, and system design validation and troubleshooting. Obtain inputs and negotiate with product and software development teams to deliver controls system designs and calibrate and verify controls features. Review and ensure robust, reusable, and efficient electronic system designs. Use system knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of electronic systems designs, systems requirements engineering, calibration, quality, and performance. Manage integration and coordination of electronic systems calibrations. Adhere to global regulation requirements around emission reduction devices and components when designing systems. Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer, determines the assignable cause, implements robust, data-based solutions, and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Use 7 Step Problem Solving Process and Fault Tree Analysis to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of negative events and to maximize the realization of positive events. Manage complexity of electronic systems by making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. Troubleshoot system level problems and provide resolution leadership for complex electronic systems with a high degree of ambiguity and global business impact and lead the development and improvement of work processes and electrical system across functions within a global business unit. Operate as the recognized multi-competency specialist and expert in the technical area. Assess the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources, and create and maintain information linkages to related artifacts. Document engineering-related information based on knowledge gained as part of technical activities and communicate to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity and effective knowledge transfer to others. Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams, up to and including direct management of small to mid-sized teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions require a Master’s degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field and 3 years of experience as an Electronics, Controls, or Systems Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field and 6 years of experience as an Electronics, Controls, or Systems Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Develop control system models in MATLAB/Simulink; System design validation and troubleshooting; Systems requirements engineering; Electronic Systems calibration; Implement robust, data-based solutions to solve product problems; 7-step problem solving process and fault tree analysis; Manage complexity of electronic systems; Technical documentation.
