The News team at Apple is looking for smart, creative scientists and algorithm design experts to build a new generation of features. You will contribute to the ecosystem of Machine Learning models that powers Apple News on iOS and transforms data into sophisticated features that delight, connect, and inspire users every day.

Description

Apple’s News team is seeking a high-energy and self-driven Machine Learning Scientist who will play a key role in the delivery of scalable machine learning models. The team uses machine learning to tackle complicated problems in the News domain, including text and multi-media understanding, personalization, search and ranking. As a member of our dynamic group, you’ll have the rare and rewarding opportunity to design algorithms for upcoming features that will delight and inform millions of Apple’s customers every day.

We're looking for smart and creative scientists with a deep background in computer science, especially machine learning, deep learning, information retrieval, and scalable distributed computing.

Minimum Qualifications

• MS in Machine Learning, Computer Science or related field.

• Extensive knowledge in theory and practice of machine learning and deep learning techniques.

• At least 3 years of experience training and deploying machine learning models.

• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or a related language, and one of the deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.

• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with partner teams.

• Committed to encouraging an open and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field.

• 5-7 years of experience training and shipping NLP and computer vision focused machine learning models in products.

• Proven experience taking LLM-based and Agentic AI systems from prototype to production including orchestration, automatic evals and reliability considerations a plus.

• Experience with personalized ranking and scoring is a plus.

• Experience with vision tasks is a plus.

• Experience delivering high quality software at scale.

• Experience designing user-facing machine learning features with interdisciplinary partners.
