The Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express revenue, merchant discount revenue. Leveraging customer-centric pricing principles and innovative pricing solutions, the team delivers merchant pricing to encourage acceptance and grow coverage, to increase merchant satisfaction and to drive GMNS revenue and profit.

The Senior Manager, U.S. B2B Pricing, is responsible for managing the pricing strategy and financial analyses for new and existing B2B payment forms as well as for several of American Express’ U.S. merchant relationships within the U.S. B2B Product, Acquisition, Client Management & Enablement (B2B PACE) portfolio. The Senior Manager is also responsible for supporting important broad-scale pricing initiatives aimed at preserving our merchant discount rate while balancing the organization’s goal for growing profitable charge volume.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the merchant business, as well as exposure to and insight from Leadership across the Blue Box. The Senior Manager should be a dynamic individual who can work closely with partners and leaders and has the right ambition to drive change.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop pricing approaches or constructs based on quantitative data analysis and provide recommendations on key financial / commercial terms.

  • Leverage internal and external data, competitive intelligence, and industry research to inform pricing strategies and maintain pricing integrity.

  • Evaluate business cases for various merchant pricing scenarios, model P&L impacts, and perform sensitivity analyses to drive agile business decisions.

  • Create comprehensive and understandable materials to support Senior Leadership decision-making, detailing key initiatives and the financial impact of pricing decisions.

  • Build relationships with partners in the Client Management organization that drive team accountability and achieve stated priorities.

  • Support expedited Leadership requests and ad-hoc teamwork, including financial analyses and Discount Rate planning and forecasting exercises where needed.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of a robust pricing infrastructure, including documentation and mapping of critical internal processes and implementation of a strong control environment.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in pricing, consulting, financial services, strategy, or related experience.

  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to work through unstructured problems and develop clear, data-driven insights.

  • Demonstrated experience in analytics, financial modeling and problem-solving; SQL or SAS is a plus.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and exhibit attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated experience as a self-starter who can work both collaboratively and autonomously.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in drawing value-added insights from data and presenting compelling recommendations through effective verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and experience interacting with business partners and senior leaders.

  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in gaining merchant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
