How will you make an impact in this role?

The U.S. Consumer Marketing team (USCM) leads marketing strategy for American Express in the U.S. Consumer market, with a focus on making membership essential to our customers. This includes acquiring new Card Members and deepening engagement with existing Card Members through compelling product value, differentiated experiences, and responsible growth.

Within USCM, the U.S. Customer Growth Marketing team is focused on deepening customer penetration across membership products — Card, Banking, Lending, Insurance, and Travel — by evolving the growth engine, expanding reach, and driving investment efficiency.

The Vice President, Banking is a senior growth leader responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end marketing strategy for the U.S. Consumer Banking portfolio, including Savings and Rewards Checking. This role is accountable for accelerating enterprise banking growth through customer acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and loyalty strategies. This leader will partner closely with Banking Product organization to shape the evolution of banking solutions and ensure marketing strategies are fully integrated into product design, capability development, and customer experience. This role sits at the intersection of product innovation, lifecycle marketing, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the multi-year lifecycle marketing strategy for Consumer Banking, spanning acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and loyalty across Savings and Rewards Checking.

  • Partner with Banking Product Org to inform product roadmaps and design integrated marketing strategies that drive adoption, usage, and long-term customer value.

  • Build and advance marketing capabilities required to scale non-card growth, working closely with Marketing Operations, Technology, Data Science, Finance, and Enterprise Digital to prioritize and implement strategic initiatives.

  • Own investment strategy, forecasting, and performance measurement; represent Banking marketing in annual planning and executive alignment forums.

  • Lead development of differentiated value propositions, customer research, marketing planning, and performance management in close partnership with Legal and Compliance.

  • Drive disciplined test-and-learn strategies to optimize performance marketing effectiveness and accelerate growth.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of 10 marketers, providing coaching on banking products, regulatory considerations, and performance marketing excellence.

  • Ability to communicate complex strategies and performance narratives with clarity and confidence, influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
