How will you make an impact in this role?
The Banking Credit & Fraud Risk team leads the 1st line of defense business for credit & fraud risk across all products and channels. As part of the Electronic Payments Risk team specifically, this role will focus on six key areas:
Working with Product and Technology partners to optimize capabilities through continuous transformation
Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across Product, Technology, and Servicing amongst others to turn insights into actions
Develop and manage analytics to identify new trends and insights
Design and implement rules and strategies in risk platforms
Work with second line risk teams to ensure models, rulesets, and strategies are effective
Share best practices across American Express
This role will be responsible specifically for:
End-to-end risk strategy for deposit product payment transactions including balancing effective fraud detection and customer experience by driving risk business requirements
Managing cross-functional relationships to ensure that key partners are aware of all credit and fraud risks
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the firm including product, technology, compliance, legal, and audit to drive engagement with the risk prevention program of work
Act as a banking subject matter expert and share best practices across the enterprise
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in engineering or math/stats, or equivalent work experience in risk management
2 years of banking and/or lending experience, preferably across the risk lifecycle within a regulated banking institution
Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Solid critical thinking and analysis in technical scenarios, attention to detail, and able to synthesize large amounts of data to formulate creative and innovative solutions to complex problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner.
Able to work autonomously to affect change - flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities, managing competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
Deep domain experience in banking deposit products and/or financial services payments
Proven track record of developing robust and insightful communications suitable for multiple stakeholders including senior management, regulators, and the Board
Direct experience working with cross-functional internal teams and external vendors to implement strategies and drive results
Experience in a first or second-line risk role with focus on risk policy, strategy, or operations
Experience in management / optimization of fraud prevention tools and strategies
Qualifications
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
