Job Description
Join AbbVie’s Biologics Discovery Sciences group and make a tangible impact in advancing innovative biologic therapies. As a scientist specializing in Biologics Purification, you will play a pivotal role in driving drug discovery, collaborating within a dynamic team dedicated to supporting transformative science that improves patient lives worldwide. Your expertise will help deliver high-purity bispecific candidates with suitable purity/characteristics to support the advancement of vital in vitro (i.e. drug-like property assays, binding, cell-based assays, etc.) and in vivo studies (i.e. efficacy, non-GLP NHP PK, DRF, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the purification of bispecific biologics to support critical research assays and studies
Design and execution of robust process development strategies necessary to address production liabilities which factor into future process scalability.
Apply advanced bioprocessing and chromatography techniques at large scale
Utilize in silico tools, DOE methodologies, and predictive modeling to optimize protein separation and maximize yield/quality
Integrate and manage analytical data using LIMS, ETL tools, and data extraction APIs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, translating molecular insights into functional results
Stay current with emerging scientific literature to foster innovation and continuous improvement
Present findings clearly to diverse audiences and document results with rigor
Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, or related field with typically 12+ years (BS), 10+ years (MS), or 4+ years (PhD) of experience
Deep proficiency in large-scale bioprocessing and chromatography
Skilled in software systems and/or programming languages: Unicorn, Chromeleon, Empower, JMP, Minitab, Python, SDMS platforms
Experience with in silico tools/models and DOE to both predict and optimize protein separation behavior based upon critical process parameters.
Experience with data extraction API, ETL tools and LIMS platforms for data acquisition, integration, and management across multiple analytical platforms is a plus
Strong understanding of molecular and post-translational attributes of biologics
Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills
