Operations

The General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) Operations team integrates operational expertise with business acumen to streamline processes and support diverse practice groups within the GCO. By focusing on risk management, financial management, learning and communications, process optimization, technology and innovation, and several other key areas, this team ensures that the GCO operates efficiently and effectively. As the backbone of the GCO, our support spans strategic advice, legal service delivery, project management and significantly contributes to the GCO’s strategy enabling it to support the broader organization.

Role Summary

The Operational Risk Manager is responsible for strengthening the organization’s risk and control environment by independently identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting operational risks across supported business processes. The manager should demonstrate strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate GCO process owners / delegates in performing risk assessments such as Process Self Risk Assessments (PRSAs) and RCSA activities, ensuring alignment to regulatory and internal standards.

  • Identify inherent and emerging risks across processes, systems, and controls in collaboration with process owners.

  • Support the application of enterprise taxonomies and risk classification principles as described in the Operational Risk Management Policy.

  • Conduct independent control monitoring, supplemental to business testing, to evaluate design and operating effectiveness of controls.

  • Review categorization and mapping of controls against risks and processes, including cross BU process–control alignment.

  • Partner with control owners and test performers to ensure controls testing & assertion is completed in defined timelines.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on operational risk requirements, frameworks, and policy expectations.

  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.

  • Partner with stakeholders like Control Management, Compliance, IAG, and other governance groups to strengthen the control environment.

  • Identify relevant GCO stakeholders to review applicability of new Law, Rules & Regulations (LRRs) assigned to GCO.

  • Collaborate with Control Management, Compliance and GCO BUPM to execute the project plans to comply with LRRs and drive closure.

  • Work in close partnership with LOBCO to monitor GCO’s operating control environment.

  • Partner with relevant GCO process owner / delegate to review and address control gaps identified as part of CRA (either by enhancing existing controls or implementing new ones).

  • Serve as centralized point of contact for audit reviews and inquiries, engaging with GCO Process Owners to request input or responses.

  • Partner with various GCO leaders to produce custom reports / dashboards.

  • Provide support on ad-hoc projects.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure all the metrics which impact GCO’s RPR are within satisfactory limits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of operational risk management experience, ideally within Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related governance functions.

  • Strong understanding of the operational risk lifecycle (RCSA, ORE, Issue Management, PRSA, control testing etc.).

  • Experience in process governance and oversight frameworks applicable to operational risk.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify patterns, evaluate risk scenarios, and synthesize complex insights.

  • Excellent communicator who builds trusted relationships across Legal and partner teams, and leads adoption of new ways of working

  • Curious, creative problem-solver with a proactive mindset, comfortable navigating complex, matrixed organizations

Qualifications

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
