Global Implementation Specialist – Global Commercial Services (GCS)

Global Commercial Services (GCS) is a core operating group of American Express and continues to deliver robust growth. GCS partners with commercial clients globally to help them manage travel expenses and make large purchases through proprietary payment solutions and expense management tools. The GCS Global Onboarding and Implementation (GOI) organization is responsible for end-to-end project management and customer success throughout the onboarding journey.

How will you make an impact on this role?

The Global Implementation Specialist will be responsible for driving best-in-class onboarding implementations for global, multinational clients, ensuring consistent delivery across regions while accounting for local market requirements. The incumbent should be extremely passionate about driving customer success and be a proactive, self-driven project manager who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse stakeholders across geographies and build strong global client relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own global client onboarding and implementations, ensuring timely delivery and strong customer outcomes.

  • Lead complex, cross-regional onboarding initiatives while balancing global standards with local market and regulatory needs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders across regions, time zones, and functions.

  • Drive clear, consistent project governance and stakeholder communications.

  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and issues; determine root causes and implement scalable solutions.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Account Development, and regional servicing teams to ensure seamless post- onboarding transitions.

  • Continuously improve global onboarding processes, tools, and customer-facing materials.

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven experience in onboarding, implementation, or customer success roles, preferably within payments, financial services, or B2B environments.

  • Strong ability to manage complex, cross-functional and cross-regional initiatives.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build strong global partnerships.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and execution discipline.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM and project management tools a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting global or multinational clients.

  • Experience with Oneforce or other CRM and project management tools.

  • Basic knowledge of accounting structures, ERP systems, and financial operations.

  • Basic knowledge of commercial cards, B2B products and overall payment ecosystem will be added advantage.

  • Ability to facilitate change and synthesize complex information from multiple sources.

  • PMI, Six Sigma, Lean Management, or similar project/process management training highly desirable.

  • Experience working across time zones and cultures a plus.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually bonus benefits
