Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide financial leadership and business support for the Franchise V commercial team (Venclexta and PVEK brands) in terms of budget and Alliance Management. Specifically, this position is responsible for SG&A forecasting, monitorization and reporting, for the Venclexta Alliance Management and Alliance Accounting and reporting activities, as well as for the PVEK revenue forecasting and accounting and sales accounting.

In addition, this position is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements and the associated internal controls.

This position will have 1 direct report and will be responsible for their performance and development.

The AD interacts with all levels of Finance team and Commercial team and business partners to consolidate Venclexta and PVEK P&L, as well as the Venclexta alliance revenues, from an actual and forecasting perspective, contributing to the development of the necessary business analytics to support the decision making process, as well to support all the AbbVie planning and reporting processes.

Major Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Internal Control

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close / reporting processes for SG&A and revenues ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements

  • Develop effective SG&A and alliance revenue reporting, performance monitorization, and support development of contingency plans as necessary to deliver results with clear and concise commentary

  • Ensure SG&A investments optimize marketing mix (MMx) and PVEK launch investments are sufficiently funded, all while understanding the strategic trade-offs involved

  • Understand the Risk and Opportunities throughout the year while continually monitoring and adapting strategic tactics based on ongoing changes

  • Oversee the preparation of all monthly collaboration transaction calculations, as part of the profit and cost sharing process for Venclexta

  • Manage financial obligations shifts between Genentech & AbbVie and collaboration and ex-collaboration investments

  • Lead the efforts for the Genentech collaboration, ensuring appropriate collaboration-required reporting is completed

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Proactively lead the brand planning processes for SG&A and Alliance [Plan, LBE and LRP] ensuring accurate and timely integration of investment resourcing in the overall brand approach and ensuring senior management input to meet deadlines and deliverables

  • Ensure an efficient management of the investments as per the annual budget defined by brand, and contribute with ideas and suggestions for funds re-allocation, based on business needs

  • Accountable for generating, presenting, and maintaining SG&A and Alliance revenues forecasts and with a high degree of precision and insight

  • Ensure financial planning deliverables are accurate, clear, and concise for Executive level review and approval

  • Coordinate with Genentech’s finance team to gain clear understanding of their actuals and shared SG&A spending for Venclexta to ensure appropriate inclusion in the AbbVie planning cycles

  • Ad-hoc analysis and scenario planning as required by the business

Strategic Business Partnership:

  • Business partner with all relevant Venclexta and PVEK business functions to develop and build strong relationships, ensuring full involvement in their financials to drive growth and profitability.

People Leadership and Development:

  • Responsible for delegating to and coaching of 1 direct report to ensure an optimal level of support to the business and provide coaching and career development opportunities to sustain a high performing staff

  • Drive a positive, productive, and inclusive culture

  • Ensure full alignment with AbbVie Ways of working and expected behaviors

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 8-10 years progressive accounting or finance experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability and desire to proactively search out for solutions, identifying and evaluating business risks and opportunities

  • Experience in leading and motivating a team in a dynamic business environment to successfully achieve results / deliverables

  • Experience supporting senior operating management

Preferred:

  • Multi-division experience and knowledge of the financial planning process

  • Solid understanding of automated accounting/finance systems such as SAP, and BPC
