Summary

The Wireless Connectivity Silicon team seeks an experienced Lead Wireless Firmware Test Engineer to drive quality strategy and lead a team of QA engineers ensuring excellence of Apple’s homegrown WIFI/BT N1 chip and beyond for Apple products. You will establish testing frameworks, mentor team members, and spearhead automation initiatives while managing test coverage across multiple projects.

Description

You will lead and mentor a QA engineering team, providing technical guidance and performance management. Establish testing priorities and resource allocation based on business impact and risk assessment. Partner with FW, Radio, MAC, and Systems engineering leadership to develop comprehensive test strategies. Oversee development of white box FW test cases and automation frameworks. Direct creation of pre-silicon and post-silicon reference board test setups. Establish quality metrics and KPIs to measure testing effectiveness. Review and approve test plans, reports, and defect analyses. Serve as quality advocate in cross-functional meetings, communicating test status and risks. Guide team in debugging complex issues and provide technical escalation support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors +10 years of relevant industry experience.

  • WIFI or Bluetooth experience.

  • Previous experience as a lead or manager.

  • Proven Understanding of Python.

  • Strong wireless/PHY/radio fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven experience as a Silicon firmware test engineer.

  • Experience in FW/SW white box testing, including test plan design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills: analyze and investigate test failures, errors, build issues, and be able to drive issues to completion accurately.

  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and be comfortable working with multi-functional teams.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of embedded SW fundamentals and low-level hardware interfaces.

  • Standout ability in collaboration, communication, and partnerships.

  • Proactive, positive, dedicated, inventive, and willing to address challenges.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience with test methodologies (unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, functional testing, etc).

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
