DESCRIPTION

Provide operations leadership and improvement focus for warehouse operations including transportation and packaging operations driving results, creating and monitoring measures, providing motivation, and setting expectations in safety, quality, production and cost. Manage multiple shifts of warehouse operations including transportation and packaging. Provide safe working environment for all Cummins and contract employees. Ensure internal and external customer requirements are met through Cummins Operating System. Lead annual operating plan, forecasts, and other measurements for Parts Distribution Center operations. Manage and develop supply chain capability as well as work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning. Set the aim for the organization and ensure individual work plans are consistent with supply chain initiatives. Ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain by managing daily operations across functions. Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction. Drive Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross-Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra company alignment. Create supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships. Develop, understand, and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators. Address supply chain failures to ensure operations stability. Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense, resources, and capital. Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets. Utilize warehousing tools, systems, and methodologies to meet defined metrics for inbound and outbound operations of a warehouse. Apply knowledge of relevant trade regulations to Cummins processes and system to minimize trade risks and costs. Influence the multi-disciplined and end-to-end integration of the flow of information, products, and services to achieve the desired result for the end customer within the first-fit or aftermarket business segments while balancing the tensions of inventory, cost, and delivery. Evaluate carrier performance through consistent monitoring of on time pick up, transit time and on time delivery measures to ensure fulfillment by published schedule and rated cost. Evaluate and select appropriate transportation mode and equipment type by lane through shipment value analysis against business requirements to provide optimal shipping method (balance cost, quality, and time).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions require a Master’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics Management, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Quality or Mechanical Engineer, Logistics or Operations Specialist, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or Logistics Management, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Quality or Mechanical Engineer, Logistics or Operations Specialist, or related position. Experience to include: Transportation and packaging operations; Develop supply chain capability; Continuous improvement projects; Key Performance Indicators; Ensure operations stability; Annual operating plan including expense, resources, and capital; Warehousing tools, systems, and methodologies; Trade regulation knowledge; Monitor carrier performance; Transportation mode selection.
