Job Description

The Senior Manager, Alliance Accounting, partners closely with internal stakeholders to administer a portfolio of in-bound and out-bound licensing arrangements. The role is highly visible as it leads a team of two direct and four indirect reports that executes the activities necessary to administer these arrangements with external alliance partners and works cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders as needed to support day-to-day operations and ad-hoc requests. Key internal stakeholders include Alliance Management, Legal, Treasury and Tax COE as well as organizational finance teams (Commercial, Aesthetics, Operations and Corporate).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees month-end close activities to ensure global royalty income and expense are properly recorded and balance sheet reconciliations are prepared in accordance with the close calendar.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders to ensure licensing arrangements are appropriately implemented and administered in accordance with their terms and conditions.

  • Supervises the preparation of periodic alliance partner reporting packages for royalty payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with the terms and conditions of the licensing arrangement.

  • Ensures timely collection of royalty receivables and supervise the process for compiling supporting documentation and analyses to assess amounts received.

  • Consults with Finance Business Development on new licensing arrangements.

  • Supports Commercial’s planning process for global royalty expense across all planning cycles (Plan / Update / LBE / LRP) and serve as the primary point of contact.

  • Maintains an inventory of commercial milestones associated with company’s licensing arrangements and partner with key internal stakeholders to periodically reassess the estimated timing of achievement. As milestones are achieved, oversees the preparation of milestone payment packages to facilitate internal approvals.

  • Prepares a milestone payment cash flow forecast in support of Corporate Accounting’s planning process for intangible assets for the Plan and LRP cycles.

  • Coordinates with company’s internal and external auditors and Tax COE for audit and accounting-related requirements as well as supporting company initiated or alliance partner-initiated audits of licensing arrangements.

  • Performs ad hoc financial reporting and analysis and lead special projects or initiatives, as assigned, which vary based on company’s business transactions and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in Accounting and/or Finance.

  • Previous supervisory experience leading a team and supervising personnel.

  • Requires strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills as well as a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders and alliance partner personnel.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet tight timelines and lead multiple projects while balancing competing priorities and customer / stakeholder demands.

  • Attention to detail, independent and pro-active thought, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers and key stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally with partners outside of immediate team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with large scale ERP and planning systems such as SAP and BPC preferred.

• Senior Management assigned to the Joint Committees of the collaborations.

• Company leaders of multiple organizations, including Commercial, Pricing, Operations, Marketing, R&D and Legal.

• Company Alliance Management

• Working Groups of external parties
